Guided Tours in English

I offer two types of guided tours in the Ermitage, the largest English-style landscape garden in Switzerland.

1.     Historical Tour (2 hours)
We follow the route designed in 1785, retracing the footsteps of the garden’s founders through cheerful, melancholic, and romantic garden scenes. Along the way, we encounter references to history, Greek mythology, and literature, while learning about the origins and concept of the Ermitage. Upon request: visit to the Hermit’s Cell, Birseck Castle, or the Proserpina Grotto.

2.     Stroll through the Ermitage (1.5 hours)
Entering through the rock gate, we discover the carousel square, the “Asylum of Dreams,” the Hermit’s Garden, and the central pond with its picturesque footbridge. We explore different types of garden scenes and their symbolic background.

Tailored Tours: I adapt each tour to the interests of your group (medicine, botany, legends, Freemasonry, etc.).

Tours are available in German, French, or English.

Sturdy footwear recommended. Insurance is the responsibility of participants.

Customized tours for associations, companies, or private groups.

Private tour of Birseck Castle by appointment. Duration approx. 1 hour.
